Blessing Box Ministry

Ministry Leader: Nancy Walley

What is a Blessing Box?

Sometimes referred to as a miniature food pantry, a Blessing Box is a small, often homemade box where people leave donated goods for others to pick up anonymously. Frequently located in easy to access areas, community members are able to fill these with anything from non-perishable food items to toiletries; Anything that will help fellow community members and would be considered a blessing to their local neighbors in need.

What is the story of our Blessing Box?

Our Blessing Box was built in 2017. The Cameron United Methodist Church and The First Christian Church partnered in this mission as we are called to help others in need.

Who is the Blessing Box for?

Anyone who would like to give... Anyone who needs to receive!

The Blessing Box is most often used for those who are not easily able to meet everyday food and personal needs. For others, the Blessing Box might provide an after-school snack for neighborhood kids who may be in need. Anyone and everyone are always welcome to receive, as needed. In all situations, the Blessing Box is for those who feel compelled to donate to others and for those who are in need, to be able to receive as needed.

It is our hope and prayer that the Blessing Box will be able to provide supplemental food and supplies for you and your family. If you are hungry and your need for food exceeds taking a few items from the Blessing Box, please visit the Cameron Food Pantry.

What should I donate to the Blessing Box?

Our goal is to keep the Blessing Box stocked with non-perishable food items such as canned and dry goods; soup, vegetables, pastas, beans, rice & boxed meals. Boxed snacks, granola bars and cereal are always a great choice. Aside from food items, personal hygiene products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, soap, diapers, paper towels, toilet paper and anything else that you feel might be considered a blessing to someone who finds themselves in need are always welcome!

Items are anonymously donated, anonymously received and are available any time, day or night.

Where is the Blessing Box Located?

The Blessing Box is located on Pine Street, between the Cameron United Methodist Church and the First Christian Church.
