Worship
|
|
The heart of our corporate life at CUMC is worship.
Jesus Christ has called his church together first and foremost for the purpose of magnifying God's name in praise and worship. In fact, Jesus' first great commandment is for us to love God with heart, mind, soul, and strength.
We recognize that all people worship something, whether job, possessions, status, or the like. We aim to focus our lives on the worship of God.
Because different person have different tastes for varied spiritual experience, we currently offer two worship experiences on Sunday morning. Our 9:00 service is traditional, complete with liturgy and pipe organ. The Porch is a contemporary service at 11:00.

Evangelism
|
|
Jesus' great commission was to make disciples of all nations.
Telling a world in desperate need of peace and grace is the primary way the church perpetuates itself an spreads the gospel of Christ in the world.
As United Methodists, we understand that the world is our parish.
Consequently, we feel compelled to proclaim and to invite.

Fellowship
|
|
The church is the place where one is accepted by God and accepted by a community of love and care.
As a person becomes a part of the congregation, we strive to provide opportunities for each person to build relationships and experience life in the community.
Because there truly are no solitary Christians, fellowship is a vital part of congregational life.

Discipleship
|
|
Jesus' ministry was characterized as one of inviting others to more deeply explore their relationship with God. As persons are drawn near to God in Christ, Jesus sends them into ministry in his name.
Certainly helping persons become more fully commited disciples of Jesus Christ is a vital part of our life together.
Through Christian Education, Bible Study, and small group opportunitites, we aim to deepen or faith walk. Changed lives is the mark of a healthy congregation.
Our discipleship empahasis is geared toward changing lives under the influnce of the Holy Spirit.

Ministry
|
|
Jesus instructed his disciples that they were to be his hands and feet in the world.
The second great commandment that Jesus gave his followers was to live neighbor as self.
Even an act as simple as offering a cup of cold water in his name is offering him.
Jesus closely identified with those in need of healing, graceful, helpful touch. He commanded his church to go and do likewise.
CUMC has multiple opportunities for her members to be Christ's presence in the world.
